(Custom #33) 1987 Harry Gant Skoal Bandit

#33 NASCAR Legends Chevrolet Monte Carlo - 1987 by Josh CadeJosh Cade Pro

About this Custom Number paint

Harry Gant's 1987 #33 Food Lion / Skoal Bandit Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS for Mach I Racing (Hal Needham and Burt Reynolds, aka "Burt & Hals"). Crew Chief, Travis Carter. Harry is my all-time favorite driver and I loved this paint scheme. Harry won poles, was fast, and was so close to winning 5 or 6 races in 1987 but had unbelievably bad luck (blown engines, transmissions, crashes).

The artwork is vector art re-created by me in Illustrator.

Some screenshots by @MilnerMediaAndDesign.

*Updated July 2025 with a few minor tweaks for historical accuracy. Skoal had a black outline, etc.

I raced my first sim in high school with Papyrus's Indianapolis 500. In 1993, my Purdue college roommate and I connected our PCs and raced each other. I also figured out how to unpack the car files and add "Marlboro" to the cars, then posted them on rec.autos.sport.indy, becoming something of an international celebrity. Ha! I guess I've been doing this a long time. I worked for ASA Racing in the '90s, and I enjoy painting throwbacks/retros from the '80s and '90s for all forms of motorsports: IndyCar, NASCAR, USAC, IMSA.
