About this Custom Number paint

Dick Trickle - 1989 Rookie of the Year - 75 Years: The Moments

Despite being well known as one of the most successful names in short track racing, Dick Trickle would not contest a full season of Winston Cup until 1989. Bill France had recruited Trickle for years, but in Dick’s words, he “didn’t want to take the pay cut.” Following the 1989 Daytona 500, the Stavola Brothers desperately needed a driver to replace Mike Alexander, who was already replacing the injured Bobby Allison, after Alexander stepped back from driving after an off-season crash. Trickle took up the reins and performed admirably, finding particularly good form on the short tracks. In a speech at the season’s awards banquet, Trickle quipped that he’d like to “thank everyone who gave a young guy like me a chance." This paint represents the number 84 Miller High Life Buick as it appeared late in the 1989 season.
