About this Custom Number paint

Bobby Labonte left his family Busch Series team to go Winston Cup racing in 1993 and tapped David Green to replace him in the number 44 Slim Jim Chevrolets. The 1993 season saw the Kentucky driver run consistently, but not spectacularly, as Green finished third in points with no wins. Green found the speed in 1994, capturing nine poles and picking up one win. The one victory came at Bristol in the spring, when leader Mark Martin took the white flag under caution, then pulled into the pit mistakenly believing he’d taken the checkers. The bizarre win would be Green’s only one of the season, but his consistency throughout the year put him at the top of the board by the finale, winning the 1994 Busch Grand National championship by a mere 46 points over Ricky Craven. Green continued in the car for 1995, but left after a dismal campaign for Buzz McCall’s team in 1996. This paint represents the Championship winning 1994 car. The Grand National Legends project is a series of paints dedicated to the most significant Busch Series drivers and cars of the 1990s. Part 2 of the series covers the years 1990 through 1994.
