Alex Zanardi - Tribute Livery Concept

BMW M Hybrid V8 by Samuel J BallSamuel J Ball Pro

About this paint

Following the tremendously sad news that Alex Zanardi had died on the 1st of May 2026, this concept livery combines five different designs of cars he raced. A small tribute to an amazing life lived to its fullest.

Starting with the front left hand corner, the bright red and yellow stripe is lifted from Alex's championship winning CART car with Chip Ganassi Racing.

Moving back, the rear left of the car features the distinctive blue and white design seen on his 2005 BMW 320i WTCC car.

At the rear right corner and side can be seen colours of the italian flag and matte black found on the BMW M4 DTM car driven to 5th place during a guest apperance at Misano.

Back to the front right hand side are the BMW M colours and design from the M8 GTLM he raced during the 2019 Daytona 24.

Finally, the gold roofscoop and tail fin feature is a nod to the gold seen on the BMW Z4 GT3, at the time in honour of Zanardi’s performances at the UCI Para-Cycling World Championships at Greenville, South Carolina but also in honour of winning gold medals at Olympic Games in London and Rio de Janeiro.
