About this paint

After stumbling across Gaël Valero's awesome Ryo Watanabe paint for the BMW M4 GT3, I knew I had to try it for myself. NFS ProStreet is one of my absolute favourite games in terms of aesthetics and the AI car designs was one very strong reason for that. Here is Rudy Chen's Grip Runners livery, considered by many to be a more difficult opponent than the grip king himself, Ray Krieger. Whereas in the game, the car used is a 997 Porsche 911 Turbo, I've brought it to iRacing on the 911 RSR. I chose this over the newer 992 Cup and GT3 cars because (firstly) I actually own this one and (secondly) I think the GTE cars are badass and wish they were more popular, as they are super fun to race and battle with, and the RSR was an especially sick race car because of its screaming engine and awesome aerodynamics. Similar to the paint that gave me the idea, this one uses the texture taken straight from the original game files and upscaled to the iRacing 2048x2048 template. Unfortunately, the resolution of the files aren't the best and so the best advice I have is to not look too closely at some of the decals. Also, as ever, trying to translate a paint finish across two different game engines is difficult, to say the least, and so the spec map isn't perfect. I got it to a point where I maximized accuracy while minimizing head-against-wall banging. Still, I'm happy with how the end result looks and I doubt I will be updating anything, apart from possibly adding something to the rear wing. I hope you like the paint and enjoy reminding everyone of the Need for Speed glory days! Also, be sure to check out Gaël Valero on TP to see his awesome work.
