About this paint

Mahiki Racing will make its British GT3 debut at #DoningtonDecider on October 4/5 after adding a McLaren 720S to its existing Ginetta GT4 programme.

Both drivers know the team but are new to the senior class, with Mahiki founder Steven Lake joining rising star Josh Miller in the Silver-Am entry. The 19-year-old has arguably been GT4’s standout driver this year, albeit without the race results to prove it, after topping his qualifying group in five out of six attempts.

Now, with his GT4 championship chances over, he’s keen to take the next step in his GT racing career.

Lake, meanwhile, previously partnered Jack Mitchell and Blake Angliss, first in a Lotus Emira and then a Ginetta G56, before making way for Luke Garlick at Brands Hatch.

His outfit has come a long way in a short space of time after first joining the British GT4 ranks last year. Now its sights are set on an extended GT3 programme in 2026.

“Mahiki is always looking to push boundaries and look to the future, and we made a decision when getting into GT racing that we’d one day go all the way. So although this is a little ahead of schedule, it was always the plan for us to enter GT3,” said Lake.

“We are looking forward to the challenge. Donington will be our first GT3 race but by no means our last: we have purchased two McLarens and plan to run both in 2026, so the rest of this year is very much testing in preparation for next season.”

The same combination of Garlick and Angliss will continue to race #69 together at Donington. But there has been a change in the second Ginetta where James Townsend now partners Joe Wheeler.

As a new entry at this stage of the season the McLaren will not score overall or class points.
